JEE Mains 2026 Jan 28 Shift Wise Question Paper Analysis - Subject Wise

The overall paper was moderate in the morning session

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 28 Shift 1 (Morning Shift)

Physics

The Physics paper was easy, with most questions based on formulae. 40% of the questions were from the 11th-grade syllabus, and 60% from the 12th-grade syllabus. Questions primarily asked from the topics Mechanics, Electrodynamics, and Heat and Thermodynamics sections.

Chemistry

The Chemistry paper was moderate but lengthy. Most of the questions were statement-type. Physical Chemistry included two questions each from Atomic Structure and Ionic Equilibrium, Aromatic Compounds and Hydrocarbons in Organic Chemistry, and Coordination Compounds in Inorganic Chemistry.

Maths

The Math paper was moderate and lengthy. Except for a few difficult questions, students solved most of the questions easily. Algebra comprised 36 % of the paper, followed by Calculus 32 %, Coordinate Geometry 16 %, Vector 3D 12 %, and Trigonometry 4 %.

The paper in the morning shift was overall moderate and lengthy.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 24 Shift 1 (Morning Shift)

Physics

Physics paper was moderate and calculation-based. Mostly questions were asked from topics- Electrodynamics and Mechanics, Geometry, Optics, Heat, and Thermodynamics.

Chemistry

Chemistry paper was moderate. Physical and Organic Chemistry questions carried a higher weightage. 34% of the questions were from the 11th-grade syllabus, and 56% from the 12th-grade syllabus.

Maths

Math paper was moderate and lengthy. Nine questions were asked from algebra, eight from calculus, four from coordinate geometry, and two each from vector 3D and trigonometry.

Physics

The Physics paper in the morning shift was of moderate difficulty. The number of questions asked from Mechanics, Magnetism, and Electrodynamics topics was higher. 40% of the questions in the paper were from the 11th-grade syllabus and 60% from the 12th-grade syllabus.

Chemistry

The Chemistry paper in the morning shift was difficult. In Physical Chemistry, students took more time because the answer could only be obtained after calculating all the options in a single question. Two questions each were asked from Coordination Chemistry, Aromatic Compounds, and Chemical Equilibrium. 40% of the questions in the paper were from the 11th-grade syllabus and 60% from the 12th-grade syllabus.

Maths

The Maths paper in the morning shift was of moderate difficulty.  The number of questions from Algebra and Calculus was higher. The paper included 44% of the questions from the 11th-grade syllabus and 56% from the 12th-grade syllabus.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 23 Shift 2 (Evening Shift)

The overall paper was tougher compared to all previous shifts.

Physics

Physics was the tough and lengthy.

Chemistry

Chemistry was moderate and included several statement-based questions.

Maths

Maths was easy and lengthy.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 22 Shift 1 (Morning Shift)

As per students reaction, overall paper in the January 22 shift was easier than January 21 exam. It was moderate to difficult level.

Physics

Physics was Moderate to Tough. Most of the questions were asked from Electrodynamics, Mechanics, Modern Wave, Magnetism, Geometrical Optics, and Heat and Thermodynamics.

Chemistry

Chemistry was Difficult and Lengthy. Questions from Inorganic and Organic Chemistry kept the students engaged. The calculations in the Physical Chemistry paper were also difficult. 28% of the questions were covered from Inorganic Chemistry and 36-36% from Organic and Physical Chemistry.

Maths

Maths paper was Moderate level and Lengthy. 32% of the questions were from Algebra and Calculus each, and the remaining questions were from Vector 3D, Trigonometry, and Coordinate Geometry.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 22 Shift 2 (Evening Shift)

As per the JEE Main 2026 January 22 Shift 2 question paper analysis, the Mathematics section was difficult, Chemistry was of moderate difficulty, and Physics ranged from easy to moderate. Overall, the Shift 2 paper was moderate to tough.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 21 Shift 1

Overall, the JEE Main 2026 January 21 Session 1 paper was rated as moderate in difficulty. Chemistry and Physics were moderate, and Math was lengthy.

Physics

The Physics paper was moderate. Mostly questions were from electrodynamics, mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves and wave optics, magnetism, gravitation, modern physics, geometry, optics, fluids, errors, and semiconductors.

Chemistry

The Chemistry paper was moderate. The calculations in Section B were difficult. The questions covered almost the entire syllabus, with two questions each from chemical bonding, salt analysis, aromatic compounds, and mole concepts. One question each appeared from all other topics.

Maths

The Maths paper was difficult and lengthy. Algebra comprised 36 %, Calculus 28%, Vector 3D 12%, Trigonometry 8%, and Coordinates 16%.

JEE Mains 2026 Jan 21 Shift 2

The shift 2 of the JEE Main 21 2026 exam is now over. The overall exam was more difficult than the morning shift.

Physics

Physics was Moderate. The Physics paper in the evening shift was moderate, with questions from mechanics, wave optics, electrodynamics, modern physics, magnetism, and fluids.

Chemistry

In the evening shift, 24% of the questions were from inorganic chemistry, 36% from organic chemistry, and 40% from physical chemistry. Due to the calculations involved, the evening shift paper was more difficult than the morning paper.

Maths

The paper in the evening shift was tough in which 32% questions were asked from Algebra, 32% from Calculus, 12% from Vector 3D, 8% from Trigonometry, 16% from Coordinate Geometry.

JEE Main 2025 Session 2 (8 April) Paper Analysis - Subject Wise

Overall: Maths paper was moderate and lengthy, Physics was moderate and Chemistry was easy.

Chemistry: Easy. Mostly questions were asked from the Coordination Compounds, Chemical Bonding, Organic Reaction Mechanism and Environmental Chemistry.

Physics: Moderate. Mostly questions were asked from the Mechanics, Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Optics, and Thermodynamics.

Mathematics: Moderate, and lengthy. Important topics are covered:- Calculus, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Algebra and Probability.

JEE Main 2025 Session 2 (7 April) Paper Analysis - Subject Wise

Overall: Maths paper was Lengthy, Physics was Easy and Chemistry was Medium.

Morning Shift:

Physics: Paper was easy. More questions were asked from electromagnetism, particle dynamics, SHM and modern physics, geometrical optics, heat and thermodynamics.

Chemistry: Chemistry paper was medium and more questions were asked from statements. 33 percent questions were asked from inorganic chemistry, 38 percent from physical chemistry and 29 percent from organic.

Maths: Maths paper was medium but lengthy. 40 percent questions were asked from Algebra, 28 percent from Calculus, 16 percent from Coordinates, 12 percent from Vector 3D and 4 percent from Trigonometry.

Evening Shift:

Physics: Paper was easy. More questions were asked from Electromagnetism, SHM, Modern Physics, Particle Dynamics, Geometrical Optics, Heat and Thermodynamics.

Chemistry: Chemistry paper was medium. 39 percent from physical chemistry, 33 from organic, 28 percent questions were asked from inorganic chemistry.

Maths: Maths paper was medium but lengthy. 36 percent questions were asked from Algebra, 32 percent from Calculus, 16 percent from Coordinates,  12 percent from Vector 3D and 4 percent from Trigonometry.

JEE Main 2025 Session 2 (4 April) Paper Analysis - Subject Wise

Overall: Maths was difficult and lengthy, Physics and Chemistry were easy.

Morning Shift:

Physics: Paper was easy. 32 percent questions were asked from Electromagnetism, 14 from SHM, 14 from Modern Physics, 9 percent each from Particle Dynamics, Geometrical Optics and Heat and Thermodynamics and 13 percent from others.

Chemistry: Paper was easy. 30-30 percent questions were asked from Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and 40 percent from Physical Chemistry.

Maths: Paper was difficult and lengthy. 36 percent questions were asked from Algebra, 12 percent from Vector 3D, 12 percent from Coordinates, 36 percent from Calculus, 4 percent from Trigonometry and 8 percent mixed questions.

Evening Shift:

Physics: Paper was easy. 28 percent questions were asked from Electromagnetism, 20 percent from Particle Dynamics, 16 percent from SHM, 8 percent each from Heat and Thermodynamics and Modern Physics, 4 percent from Geometrical Optics and 16 percent from others.

Chemistry: Paper was easy. There were more statement questions. Physical Chemistry had more weightage. 28 percent questions each were asked from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry and 44 percent from Physical Chemistry.

Maths: Paper was difficult and lengthy. 36 percent questions were asked from Calculus, 32 percent from Algebra, 16 percent from Coordinates, 12 percent from Vector 3D and 4 percent mixed questions.

JEE Main 2025 Session 1 (29 January) Paper Analysis by ALLEN

Overall: Physics, Chemistry were Moderate, Maths was Difficult

Morning Shift:

Physics: The paper was moderate and conceptual. Questions asked from the topics Work Power Energy, three from Elasticity, Heat and Thermodynamics, Geometry Optics, Electromagnetic Waves, Kinematics from Modern Physics, EMI, Unit and Dimension and other topics.

In which two questions were asked from Geometrical Optics, Unit Dimension, Center of Mass, Elasticity, Heat and Thermodynamics, Capacitance and Modern Physics.

Chemistry: Most of the questions asked from Physical Chemistry. Topics covered:  Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Liquid Solution, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure and Mole Concept.

Question asked form the topics of Inorganic Chemistry: one question was asked from Periodic Table, three questions from Coordination and two questions from D Block.

Question asked from the topics of InOrganic: AUPAC, GOC, Acid Base Strength, Alkyl Halide, Mixed Questions of Carbonic Compound and Aromatic Compound and Biomolecule. 

Maths: Paper was difficult and lengthy. Here, 36% questions were asked from Calculus, 32% from Algebra, 16% from Coordinates, 16% from 3D Vectors and 4% from Statistics and Relation. 

Evening Shift:

Physics:  Paper was moderate like the morning. The weightage of the questions are same like morning shift.

Chemistry: The weightage of Organic and Physical Chemistry was more as compares to morning shift and some of the questions were asked from Advanced Level.

Maths: Paper was more difficult than morning shift. Here, 32% questions were asked from Calculus, 32% from Algebra, 16% from Coordinates, 12% from 3D Vectors and 4% each from Trigonometry and Statistics and Relation.

Questions were asked from the topics: Geometry Optics, Capacitance, Elasticity Heat and Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Modern Physics, Error in Measurement and Instrument, Electromagnetic Waves and Semiconductor, Kinematics, Circular Motion, Work Power and Energy, Rotational Motion, Simple Harmonic Motion, Electrostatics, Gravitation, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effect of Current.

Chemistry: The level of Chemistry paper was moderate. 32% questions were asked from Inorganic Chemistry, 36% from Organic Chemistry, 28% from Physical Chemistry and 4% mixed. Covered almost whole syllabus.

Maths: Paper was moderate and lengthy. 40% questions were asked from Calculus, 32% from Algebra, 12% from Coordinates, 4% from Statistics and Relation, 12% from 3D Vectors. There was no question from the topic Trigonometry.

Evening Shift:

Physics: The paper was moderate and lengthy. Covered questions from almost all the topics mentioned in the morning shift.

Chemistry: The paper was easy as compare to the morning shift. Here, 26% questions were asked from Inorganic Chemistry, 39% from Organic Chemistry and 35% from Physical Chemistry.

Maths: Paper was moderate and lengthy. 40% questions were asked from Calculus, 28% from Algebra, 16% from Coordinates, 12% from 3D Vectors and 4% from Trigonometry.

Morning Shift:

Chemistry: 6 questions were asked about Inorganic chemistry, 8 about Organic chemistry, and 9 about Physical chemistry. 2 questions were asked about a mix of Inorganic, Organic, and Physical chemistry.

Physics: 3 questions each were asked from Modern Physics, Unit and Dimensions, Geometry and Optics. 2 questions each were asked from Fluid Mechanics, Elasticity, and magnetic Induction, while one question each was asked from Work Power and Energy, Gravitation, Kinematics, Centre of Mass, Simple Harmonic Motion, Electrostatics, Electromagnetic Waves, Capacitance and Semiconductor.

Maths: The paper was moderately difficult but more manageable than the 22nd Jan shift. 35% of questions were covered from Calculus, 32% from Algebra, 8% from Coordinates, 8% from Statistics and Relation, 12% from 3D Vectors and 5% from Trigonometry.

Evening Shift:

Chemistry: Most of the questions were asked in Physical chemistry. Here, 35% of the questions were covered in inorganic chemistry, 20% in Organic chemistry, and 45% in Physical chemistry.

Physics: The paper was average but easier than the morning shift. The percentage of questions remained the same as in the morning.

Maths: Paper was moderate and lengthy. Here, 32% questions were asked from Calculus, 31% from Algebra, 12% from Coordinates, 9% from Statistics and Relation, 12% from 3D Vectors and 4% from Trigonometry.

Physics: Mostly there was one question for each topic.

Maths: The paper was medium level but involved lengthy calculations. 35% of the questions were related to Calculus, 9% to Coordinates, 6% to Statistics and Relationships, and 3% to 3D Vectors.

Evening Shift:

Chemistry: Most of the questions were statement-based. On the evening shift, the weightage of questions from Organic Chemistry was higher.

Physics: The paper on the evening shift was easier than the morning shift. There was mostly one question each from each topic.

Maths: The paper was more difficult and lengthy than the morning shift. 35% of the questions were from Calculus, 32% from Algebra, 10% from Coordinates, 9% from Vector 3D, 9% from Statistics Relation, and 5% from Trigonometry.
